Women are a lot more likely to suffer headaches than men.
Research has found that six per cent - just over one in 20 - have to cope with headaches for at least half of every month compared to just 2.9 per cent of men.
The review also concluded that women are twice as likely as men to suffer from migraines - which can last up to three days and lead to vomiting as well as sensitivity to light and noise.
The analysis, from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, looked at 357 studies from the 1960s until the present day. The experts estimate that approximately one in six people on the planet will have a headache on any given day.
The research found that people in high-income countries reported more headaches, although this could be because more studies have been conducted in developed nations.
