A wildlife conservation group in Scotland has made the world’s biggest insect hotel.
Highland Titles snagged themselves a Guinness World Record for creating a hideout - made materials such as masonry bricks, bamboo and wildflower seeds - for creepy crawlies that measures a whopping 7,000 cubic feet at their nature reserve in the Durore.
Douglas Wilson, the CEO of the group said: "This record-breaking initiative is about the environmental message. We bought this land in 2006 when it was a poorly performing commercial forestry plantation of non-native Sitka spruce."
He added that the location was "inappropriately planted in the late 1980s with no thought or consideration given to biodiversity."
Douglas shared that he hopes“their efforts will inspire others”.
He said: "Using these same trees for something that puts nature first symbolizes that the world has changed, and we hope our efforts will inspire others. We'd be delighted if someone beat our record in the future.”
