A widow was surprised to find her late husband had stuffed the attic with his vast taxidermy collection.
Julie Gittoes, 62, had no idea about the extent of her husband Kevin’s passion and scope for padded dead animals until she ventured into their loft and uncovered his vast array - including a lion’s head, a fox and a rabbit set and lots of birds - hidden up there because she “wasn’t allowed” up there.
The Kidderminster resident told the Mirror: "I was never allowed into the loft but, after I lost Kevin, I needed some work done in the attic.”
After a repairman needed to go up there, he found 12 pieces that Julie was “amazed” were unaccounted for.
Julie said: "I'm amazed Kevin managed to squirrel them away without me knowing."
She said it made her “smile now to think of Kevin smuggling” the animals up there but will auction most of them off.
Julie said: "The time feels right to part with them now but I am not letting everything go."
