A 'Third Eye' has been developed to help prevent those focused on their smartphones from walking into things.
South Korean industrial designer Paeng Min-wook created the robotic eyeball and has described it as the "look of future mankind".
The device is able to sense when the user's head has been lowered to stare at their phone and opens its translucent eyelid.
As soon as the person comes within one or two metres off an obstacle, The Third Eye makes a beeping noise to warn them of the danger.
Paeng hopes the device is able to make people "recognise the severity of their gadget addiction and look back at themselves".
He added: "This is the look of future mankind with three eyes.
"As we cannot take our eyes off from smartphones, the extra eye will be needed in future."
