Artificial intelligence thinks of humanity as 'scum'

Mo Gawdat, the former boss of the facility Google X, is convinced that AI will take a dim view of human behaviour and may think that it needs to cull people as a result.

Gawdat has questioned those who demonise AI as humanity is only putting itself at risk by doing so.

Speaking on the Secret Leaders podcast, he said: "It is humanity which is the threat.

"The question would be probabilities - how likely is AI to think of us as scum today? Very high.

"Because (AI is) not intelligent enough to see beyond the obvious and because we are scum. What we show in the real world is the worst of us.

"We're fake on social media, we're rude, we're angry, or we're lying on social media."

Gawdat has ruled out the prospect of humanity getting rid of AI as tech companies have already invested so many resources into it.
