Jason Grimshaw's dad is coming to the Corrie cobbles in the shape of Terence Maynard.
He'll join the Manchester-based soap early next year as Tony Stewart - estranged father to builder Jason (Ryan Thomas).
The character was previously played by 'Scum' actor Alan Igbon in 2003 and 'Corrie' bosses are now planning for 34-year-old Terence to cause a stir on his arrival in Weatherfield.
It is thought that Tony will catch the eye of the Rover's Return landlady Liz McDonald (Beverley Callard) and shock his former partner Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) and son Jason with his return to Weatherfield.
'Coronation Street' producer Stuart Blackburn said: "His arrival is going to cause massive ructions for the Grimshaws.
"He is a man who can be your best friend or your worst enemy - and with a long history of lies and betrayal, this is a guy who has an awful lot of making up to do."
The announcement of Tony's return has come just a week after Jason's brother, and Eileen's younger son Todd Grimshaw (Bruno Langley) made his return to the street.
