A tarantula has caused a serious road traffic accident in California.
Two Swiss tourists collided with a 24-year-old Canadian man on a motorbike, after they braked abruptly in a bid to avoid a tarantula.
The National Park Service (NPS) confirmed in a statement that the Canadian man crashed into the back of the couple's rented camper van.
The NPS added: "The spider walked away unscathed."
NPS Superintendent Mike Reynolds has also offered some advice to motorists following the crash.
He said: "Our roads still have gravel patches due to flood damage, and wildlife of all sizes are out."
The injured motorcyclist received treatment at Desert View Hospital in Pahrump, Nevada. His current condition is not known.
