A suspected meteor was seen flying across the sky.
The object was spotted zooming over the skies in Utah and locals reported hearing a roaring “boom”, which was also picked up in neighbouring state Idaho.
Wendi Melling, a South Salt Lake resident, told Sky News: "It did sound similar to sonic booms I've heard before, followed by a short incident of a sound similar to low rolling thunder."
"This rumbling noise that followed the boom was maybe 3-4 seconds."
Utah Governor Spencer Cox posted on Twitter that the incident was not connected to any seismic activity or military installations.
The Salt Lake City branch of the National Weather Service tweeted their lightning detection mapper was likely spotted by the meteor’s trail flash.
A light streaking across the sky can be seen in a clip captured by Snowbasin Resort in the state, which shows the meteor soaring over peaks in the morning sun.
