A statue has been compared to a 'cartoon character' after it underwent botched restoration work.

Painter Antonio Capel took to social media to blast the newly restored sculpture in the Spanish region of Castile and Leon.
Sharing before and after shots of the statue, he wrote: "It looks like a cartoon character."
The restoration didn't go down well with locals on the internet as they took aim at the new statue.
One resident said: "It makes me want to cry, it is terrible. And to think of all the great artists we have."
Another said: "My granddaughter could do better with playdough."
While a third added: "It looks like sand sculptures kids do on the beach."
