A terrified British shopper was left reeling in horror after finding a huge huntsman spider in his pack of bananas.
Craig Harrison, from Windsor, made the shocking discovery after returning from a shopping trip at local supermarket Tesco.
The 35-year-old man munched on one banana before noticing the “scary and evil-looking” eight-legged beast inside the bag with its egg sac that can contain up to 200 spider babies.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, he said: "Initially, I was just in shock. I stumbled backwards and lost my balance.
“I didn’t think I was scared of spiders until this but it turns out I might have developed something.”
After capturing the spider in a plastic Tupperware box he took it back to Tesco, and pest control experts were able to confirm the huntsman spider came from suppliers in the Dominican Republic.
The arachnids are the world’s biggest species of spider that can grow to 12 inches across and have been known to hide in banana plants.
Whilst they’re venom is not deadly, it can cause an array of nasty symptoms in humans, including heart palpitations, headaches and vomiting.
Craig was offered £100 compensation from Tesco following the passenger in his shopping but insists he wants more as the "money doesn’t even come to a big weekly shop".
