Sound therapy could be the secret to eternal youth.
Boffins claim that the revolutionary new technique can turn back the clock on human cells by zapping them with low-frequency soundwaves.
The treatment awakened the cells from a "zombie-like" state seen in those that had become dormant.
US researchers have tested the therapy on mice and the rodents were soon feeling youthful enough to run both faster and further on a treadmill.
It also cured one individual's hunched back despite making it worse initially.
Professor Michael Sheetz, of the University of Texas, said: "We treated it twice with ultrasound and it was back to behaving normally.
"I don't think rejuvenation is too strong a term."
Doctors are now hoping that the treatment can be used to ward off frailty and keep people fit into old age.
