A sea lion was returned to the sea after being found wandering a highway in California.
The very lost sea mammal was discovered far from home by rescuers over eight miles away from his natural habitat, trekking up the State Route 94 last month but is now said to be in “great shape” to return.
Eric Otjen, head of SeaWorld San Diego’s Rescue Team told The Hill: "Everyone was in agreement that since he was in great shape and since he was exhibiting normal sea lion behavior the decision was made to return him,” calling it “pretty much the best part of the job.”
Before he was let free into the ocean, they tagged him with an identification marker in case he ends up in trouble again.
