A school girl was warned she risked being sent home unless she changed her Christmas-themed hairstyle.

Poppy Leigh, 13, tried to get into the festive spirit by putting lights in her hair and turning it into a mini-Christmas tree - but her teachers were far from impressed with her festive style.
Poppy's mother, Christie, told the Manchester Evening News newspaper: ''I am quite upset really, it's just Bah Humbug. It's just a bit of fun and Christmas cheer before she breaks up [from school].
''She just wanted to make things a bit more exciting. Poppy is always messing around with her hair.''
