The Kremlin has sent a chilling message to Britain

Britain announced at the weekend that it would be sending 14 Challenge 2 main battle tanks as well as other advanced artillery support to the war-torn nation in the coming weeks but Vladimir Putin's spokesperson Dmitry Peskov warned that the move would end badly.

The Russian spokesman said: "They are using this country (Ukraine) as a tool to achieve their anti-Russian goals.

"These tanks are burning and will burn just like the rest."

Peskov claimed that new supplies from nations such as the UK and Poland will only serve to prolong the conflict and ultimately bring "more troubles" on Ukraine.

Moscow is framing the war as a battle with the West and Putin has said that Russia will use all available means to protect itself.

Pro-Kremlin TV presenter Vladimir Solovyev claimed that any Western countries that supplied more advanced weapons to Ukraine should be considered as legitimate targets for Russia.

He said: "De-facto, Britain has entered the war. I consider Britain is now a legitimate target for us."

Russian lawmaker Andrei Gurulyev proposed wiping out the UK during an appearance on Solovyev's TV programme.

He said: "If there is no London, then we would have victory. On Britain, I said six months ago that it should be wiped from the face of the earth."
