A runaway tortoise has been found after two years.
Jemima escaped from Charles Waddell's Northumberland home in 2021 but was located just five miles from the property at an equestrian centre.
Waddell's daughter Beatrice, 10, was left devastated by the tortoise's disappearance and the family had given up hope of seeing the pet again after months of fruitless searching.
However, they were reunited with Jemima by chance as they spotted a Facebook post about a tortoise being found and taken to a vet.
Waddell, a lawyer and university lecturer, said: "They move a lot quicker than you think - she definitely outfoxed us. I don't know how she managed to survive the winters but she does hibernate. She's obviously managed to keep herself well-fed."
Jemima is now being kept in a more secure pen to stop her from going walkabout again.
Waddell said: "She has certainly been on a real adventure... we'll be keeping a closer eye on her."
