A runaway tortoise has been reunited with her family after being discovered by railway workers.
80-year-old Twin escaped from her pen in owner Lizzie Jeanes' garden in Hertfordshire eight months ago but was found in May by three Network Rail employees as they carried out routine inspections on some track.
Jeanes explained that Twin has been with her wider family for seven decades and was "greatly missed" before a Facebook post helped track her down.
She revealed that it was "horrible" when her family discovered that the tortoise had escaped from her pen.
Jeanes told the BBC: "Everyone had looked after her for 70 years and I'd managed to lose her and I didn't want to tell the person who originally owned her, and is still alive, that I had lost her precious tortoise that she'd entrusted with me."
She was reunited with Twin after a neighbour alerted her to a Facebook post from a local cafe revealing that a tortoise had been found.
Jeanes said: "It was like all our Christmases had come together."
Twin has been reunited with her mate Joey and Jeanes will now get her micro-chipped.
