A US Air Force general had suggested that extraterrestrials could not be discounted as an explanation behind the objects but the government has now issued a denial.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said: "I know there have been questions and concerns about this, but there is no, again no indication of aliens or extraterrestrial activity with these recent takedowns."

The US has shot down four unidentified objects so far this month and the origins of the objects have been the subject of intense speculation but several White House officials have ruled out the possibility of aliens.

White House spokesperson John Kirby said on Monday (13.02.23): "I don't think the American people need to worry about aliens with respect to these crafts, period."

The incidents come as the Pentagon has undertaken a new push in recent years to investigate military sightings of UFOs. The efforts to investigate anomalous, unidentified objects in space, the skies or underwater has led to hundreds of documented reports that are being investigated.

A 2020 poll found that just under half of Americans believe that aliens exist and have visited the Earth.
