A bat broke a British record by flying more than 1,200 miles from London to Russia - before being eaten by a cat.
The Nathusius' pipistrelle was discovered in the Russian village of Molgino, after being given a unique identifying ring back in 2016 at the Bedfont Lakes Country Park in the UK.
The bat's trip marks one of the longest ever recorded migrations made from Britain and is likely to be one of the longest bat migrations ever taken globally.
The animal was found by a Russian animal rescue group last month but sadly died shortly after being attacked by a cat.
Lisa Worledge, head of conservation services at the Bat Conservation Trust, said: "This is a remarkable journey and the longest one we know of any bat from Britain across Europe. Projects pioneered by citizen scientists have helped to shed light on the migration pattern of these winged wonders."
