Local authorities say the empty tank car broke away from a Columbia-Walla Walla Railroad train in Walla Walla and ended up rolling to Touchet area - reaching a top speed of 50 miles per hour - before being halted by emergency services.

Joe Klundt, the Walla Walla County Sheriff shared a video to Twitter of the rumbling car and captioned it: “So this happened yesterday west of Wall Walla Washington. Nobody hurt…”

He revealed by the time it was stopped, the car was going at 3 miles per hour as it was going uphill.

Paul Didelius, the owner of the Columbia-Walla Walla Railroad revealed an investigation getting to the root of what happened is currently ongoing.
