Rabbit owners have been advised not to feed lettuce to their pets, as they could end up stoned.
The vegetable contains lactucarium, a milky fluid that acts as a sedative and can lead to "mild euphoria" for the animals, experts say.
Owners have also been told not to give their bunnies carrots because they contain a lot of sugar and are the equivalent of chocolate for rabbits.
The animal should be fed with dandelion leaves, thyme, rosemary, basil or mint as well as grass and hay. Bananas and spinach should only be given out as "rare treats".
The RSPCA says that there are many "misconceptions" around what bunnies should be fed as they marked Rabbit Awareness Week.
The animal welfare group said: "There's many misconceptions about rabbits, including that they need lots of carrots and lettuce."
