A man was saved from a house fire by his pet parrot.

Anton Nguyen's home in Brisbane, Australia went up in flames but he was able to escape without injury as his bird, named Eric, started chirping and woke him up just in time.
He told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation: "I heard a bang and Eric - my parrot - he started to yell so I woke up and I smelled a bit of smoke.
"I grabbed Eric, opened the door and looked to the back of the house and saw some flames.
"I'm in shock but I'm fine.
"Everything's alright so long as I have myself and the bird."
