People who use saucy images on dating appear stupid and unlikeable, a University of Arizona study finds.
According to the study, users of popular dating platforms, such as Bumble, Tinder and Hinge are less likely to find love if they ham up their sex appeal in their snaps as people think you seem incompetent and unlikeable.
These findings came after they asked 262 heterosexual people to look at what they thought were real dating profiles. Men were judged more harshly than women
The report - led by Kun Yan and a team of researchers said: “Our results found that sexualized dating profiles incurred social costs (e.g., less perceived task competence, less liking and social attractiveness) and were also at an increased likelihood of experiencing sexual cyber dating abuse than were their nonsexualized counterparts.”
Men were judged more harshly than women
“We theorize that the norms of the heterosexual script may partially explain this.”
