People around the world are putting up Christmas lights in a bid to spread some cheer amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The idea originated on social media, when a Twitter user suggested that driving around looking at others' festive lights would be a good social distancing activity and the idea has gained traction amongst other users.
The tweet read: ''What if we all put our Christmas lights back up? Then we could get in the car and drive around and look at them. That seems like a fair social distancing activity.''
Another user revealed his neighbours had decided to switch their Christmas lights back on and that it had raised a smile.
The user wrote: ''Today a few of my neighbours decided we needed a bit more light in this dark time and decided to turn their Christmas lights back on.
''I hope it brings a smile to your face like it did mine.''
