Two penguins were detained by police after they were discovered nesting under a sushi shop.
The animals, who were described by New Zealand police as ''waddling vagrants'', were reportedly to the smell of fish at Sushi Bi in Wellington's busiest train station.
Police previously received a call about penguin on the loose in the city when reported seeing a ''grumpy bird'' under a parked car.
Jack Mace, an operations manager for the Department of Conservation, said: ''They were within penguin commuting distance of the harbour, and they thought they'd found a nice spot.''
The little blue penguins have now been moved back to the waterfront.
