A nutter squirrel broke into British DIY store B+Q to steal a bag of peanuts.
Officers for Norwich Police raced to the store when the security alarm was triggered. But officers, who were hoping to catch the criminal in the act, discovered that the shoplifted was non other than a cheeky squirrel.
The roaming rodent tripped the alarm when it raided the store on the hunt for food.
When Norfolk Police entered the scene they found the scheming squirrel gorging on bird food and packets of peanuts before giving them the slip.
Posting a picture of the squirrel on Twitter, Norwich Police wrote: “Officers from #NWSNT attended an intruder alarm at B and Q last night and found the culprit stealing [nuts] and bird food.
“Unfortunately he was too quick and nimble for us and got away!”
B and Q replied: “He must have been scouting out the place for days. Definitely a pro!”
