A family in New York has beaten their own Guinness World Record with 687,000 festive lights.
The Gay family first broke the record for most lights on a residential property in 2012 with 346,283 lights, they went on to beat their record in 2014 with 601,736 lights before topping their display for a third time this year.
Tim Gay said that going all out for Christmas at their Lagrangeville home is a tradition that was passed down from his mother.
Speaking to the Albany Times-Union newspaper, he said: "I grew up in a family of eight children and she made the holidays magical for the whole family,
"From Thanksgiving to New Years, it was like Grand Central Station in our house. It was very special to us."
The family's annual ERDAJT lights display – made up from his children’s initials, serves as a fundraiser for local charities and Tim is hoping that this year’s festive lights show will raise $500,000.
