NASA is planning to use old satellites in the quest to find aliens.
The US space agency is currently investigating hundreds of UFO sightings and the satellites it has in orbit could be re-purposed to detect extraterrestrials.
NASA has launched an inquiry into UFOs and it is being led by a host of top scientists from the agency.
Pamela Melroy, deputy administrator of NASA, said: "One of the big questions asked is, 'We have a ton of satellites looking down at the Earth, are any of them useful?'"
She added that the satellites should "be able to determine if it's an optical phenomenon or some other kind".
NASA administrator Bill Nelson added: "Is there the possibility of life in something as big as the universe?
"Of course there is the chance that, in somewhere as big as that, conditions similar to Earth existed."
The development comes after the Pentagon reported 144 UFO incidents between 2004 and 2021 - with many spotted by military pilots.
