NASA has launched a "full focus" investigation into UFO sightings.
The space agency has confirmed plans for a nine-month study into unidentified phenomena in the sky, following the first US congressional hearing into the spacecraft for over 50 years.
Daniel Evans, a NASA research chief, said: "This is really important to us, and we're placing a high priority on it."
The US space agency has revealed that the research squad will consist of "some of the world's leading scientists, data practitioners and aerospace safety experts".
Evans added: "I'm hoping that we'll get this done by October, but I will cross my fingers and say that we could be able to get it done sooner than that."
The team will be led by astrophysicist David Spergel, who is planning to start off by looking at the vast amount of data NASA already collects on the Earth's atmosphere.
