Scientists are apparently on the brink of showcasing evidence of alien life

Filmmaker Simon Holland - who has worked with NASA and the BBC on documentary projects - has revealed that research backed by Oxford University looking for extraterrestrial signals has identified "non-human intelligence in our galaxy".

The signal is a five-hour-long burst of radio waves and is seemingly from a region around Proxima Centauri, a star that is about 4.2 lightyears away from Earth.

Experts have confirmed that they are analysing the signal and Holland says that the announcement is being delayed while the facts are established.

He told DailyMail.com: "They are looking for details, hence the delay in publishing the news."

Holland claims that he has been told by an insider that evidence favours the theory that the signal has originated from an alien species.

He said: "My contact is a senior European Union radio telescope administrator.

"We have found a non-human extraterrestrial intelligence in our galaxy and people don't know about it."
