Nando's has apologised after a customer found a deep-fried moth in a meal.

The unnamed man had ordered lunch at a branch in Leeds when he discovered the moth at the bottom of a chip box.

The man told the Yorkshire Evening Post newspaper: ''After eating the full meal the deep-fried moth was found at the bottom of one of the chip boxes, we had around 5 boxes of chips between us.''

Nando's have now vowed to investigate the ''isolated incident'' and has apologised to the customer.

A spokesperson said: ''We have sincerely apologised to [the man] for what happened, and regret any distress this event caused.

''We are confident that this was an isolated incident, and will do everything we can to make sure it does not happen again''.
