The type of music people enjoy listening to changes over the course of the day.
A new study conducted by Aarhus University in Denmark has found that the ideal "loudness" increases to its highest point around 11am with the tempo increasing dramatically in the afternoon - with beat strength and danceability reaching higher levels than in the morning.
The picture is muddled between 4am and 6am as people who are awake at that time are often completing different activities.
Study author Dr. Ole Adrian Heggli said: "Our results tell us that a circadian rhythm is also present in something as 'personal' as musical preference, and we seem to have an intuitive knowledge that certain types of music are better suited for certain periods of the day.
"Whether that is due to the biological circadian rhythms, or due to how a society has structured everyday life, we do not know."
