7.30 am is the best time of the day to have sex.
A new survey has found that couples should get it on early in the morning when energy levels are at their highest to receive the "maximum benefit" of lovemaking.
Jodie Slee, a sex and relationships therapist at Sensate Therapy, said: "Physiologically, your sex hormones are higher in the morning.
"Both testosterone in men and oestrogen in women are higher, and both play an essential role in sexual functioning."
The research was carried out by Naturecan, a company that sells CBD oil products, who monitored the body clocks of people with "active and healthy" lives.
Polling took place over the course of six weeks and the respondents were mainly couples in long-term relationships aged between 18 and 65 and more than two-thirds agreed that sex was better in the morning.
Slee added that couples find it easier to romp in the morning as they aren't thinking about the demands of the day to come.
She said: "People struggle in the evening to transition mentally from work - being task-focused and goal-driven - to then walking through the door and having to turn all that off and switch context.
"You want to be relaxed and present in the moment. Everyday life for the majority of people doesn't facilitate that, whereas in the morning, you've not got the day on your soldiers."
