A woman’s wedding ring lost at sea has been found on her 17th wedding anniversary.
Jenny Urquhart was surfing in Devon on May 7 when she realised she couldn’t find the prized possession.
So, more in hope than expectation the 45-year-old artist from Bristol put a drawing of the ring on social media in the unlikely event that somebody would be able to assist in locating it.
And she was stunned to be contacted by a metal detectorist 11 weeks later who told her he’d found it on the same day as her romantic milestone.
Jenny, who was surfing in an area called Saunton Sands at the time, said: "The chances of it happening, it’s amazing, I'm still in shock.
"I went to all the cafes and left my details, I went to metal detecting sites online but people who know Saunton know it's a massive beach, so I just thought, 'it's lost forever'.”
And she described the “upsetting” moment she thought she’d lost the ring forever.
She said: "I was about waist-deep in the water and I realised I still had my wedding ring on, so I tried to put it in the little pocket of my wetsuit and then it just sunk to the bottom of the sea.
"It was so upsetting."
