Dan Halloran - who graduated from Lawrence High School in 1982, the year he lost it - “never in a million years” thought he get the ring back after it was found in the changing rooms of his alma mater.

He told WHDH.com: "Never in a million years did I think I'd find it” after a janitor found it while he was cleaning the school, while labelling it “the biggest surprise”.

Dan - who still lives in the same New England town - said: "It was so cool, the biggest surprise I could've received” and knew it was his “because it had a little basketball with blue diamonds around it."

Despite being heavier than his jock days, Dan was ecstatic to get it back.

He said: "It's basically a pinky ring now. But I'm not complaining. I love it."
