Marmite can help calm anxiety.
A new study conducted by experts at Reading University has found that the high vitamin levels in the divisive yeast extract can interfere with brain chemistry and reduce levels of anxiety and depression.
The experts noted that the spread is high in B vitamins that modify chemical messengers in the brain.
The study of 300 adults set out to learn whether high doses of the B6 vitamin could reduce signs and symptoms of anxiety.
Study participants were split into groups and the results found that those who took B6 saw "significant" reductions in depression and anxiety.
Dr. David Field, the lead author of the study, explained: "Vitamin B6 helps the body produce a specific chemical messenger that inhibits impulses in the brain, and our study links this calming effect with reduced anxiety among the participants."
