A former British Marine drank a cocktail with his own amputated toe in the glass.
Nick Griffiths lost three digits from his foot due to frostbite during a race between Bolton and Yukon in Canada, and when he was in hospital the nurse told him about the Sourtoe Cocktail challenge, which takes place at the Downtown Hotel in Dawson City, Yukon, and involves downing a shot of whiskey with a mummified toe.
To successfully complete the challenge, the toe must make contact with the person's lips and, if accidentally swallowed, the hotel impose a fine of $2,500.
Mr. Griffiths donated his own toes because the hotel has a shortage and did the challenge with one of his own digits and, he said it ''wasn't as bad'' as people would expect.
According to Metro.co.uk, he said: ''It wasn't as bad as you would think - it would more like a lump of ice than anything else.
''The toe looked exactly as it was the last time I had seen it.
''The tradition was first started with a toe that had been amputated due to frostbite, and they said for them to get another big toe, that was amputated due to frostbite was the motherload. It was the full circle.''
