Arnold Teeter walked into Perkins Restaurant in Painesville and then laid down in the booth.
The unprovoked guest then threw a menu at a waitress and as the manager approached to try and talk to him, pulled out the reptile from under his shirt, swung it around and struck the restaurant worker.
Authorities are not sure of the intentions behind the attack.
The 49-year-old man has been charged with animal cruelty, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
According to reports, a bond has been set at $10,000 for the man.
Police say the poor iguana - which they named Copper- left the attack with a fractured leg.
