Love potions could be available within five years.
Experts have suggested that drugs that spark romance could be available to singletons in the next few years while a form of anti-depressant may be given to lovers who have suffered the pain of being dumped.
The drugs that could spark romance include the 'cuddle hormone' oxytocin and low-dose ecstasy which could help couples fall back in love.
Dr. Anna Machin, an anthropologist at Oxford University, claims that certain substances can replicate the effect that falling in love has on the brain.
She said: "We know enough now about the neurochemistry of love to probably suggest some things you could take to enhance your abilities to find love - or to increase the possibility that you will stay in love when it's getting a little bit tricky.
"And certainly one of the frontiers - can you imagine how much money you make? - is in exploring these possible love drugs."
