A mushroom cloud has sparked panic after it was spotted in Kiev.
Residents posted pictures of the freak cloud on social media with some concerned that it had come from Chernobyl, the site of the 1986 nuclear disaster.
Ukrainian State Emergency Services captioned their pictures with: ''Admit it, who got scared?''
Officials reassured locals that it was a strange nature phenomenon known as an anvil cloud and said ''there was no reason for any worries''.
They added: ''We have had these types of clouds before above Kiev Oblast, Ternopil Oblast and Vinnitsa.''
The clouds typically have an anvil-like appearance but on rare occasion they can resemble mushrooms.
They are capable of producing lightning and severe weather conditions such as tornadoes and hurricanes.
