The town of Takikawa has purchased and installed a pair of Monster Wolf Robots in an effort to deter the bears that have become an increasingly dangerous nuisance in the countryside.

The wolf robots were purchased after bears had been spotted in the local area in September and town officials revealed that there have been no sightings since the robots were introduced.

Monster Wolf robots have four legs, a shaggy body, a blond mane and glowing red eyes. When its motion detectors are activated, it moves its head and emits noises ranging from wolfish howling to machinery sounds.

Bear sightings in Japan have reached a five-year high whilst the real wolves have been extinct for more than a century in the Asian nation.
