American intelligence chiefs have confessed that UFOs are real.
An official government hearing into extraterrestrials has revealed that US military aircraft have had 11 near misses with spaceships and intelligence services are probing another 18 encounters with the mysterious objects.
Experts have warned that reports on UFOs are "frequent and continuing" and navy chiefs have been left puzzled by "flight characteristics that were not what we expected".
Scott Bray, deputy of naval intelligence, said: "We are not aware of any adversary that can move without discernable means of propulsion. There are events in which we do not have an explanation."
Bray ruled out attacks from enemy crafts from China or Russia and warned that the intrusion by unknown objects in the sky "pose a threat" and are of "great concern".
The historic committee meeting signals a major shift in US policy towards aliens and "removes the stigma" of reporting UFO sightings.
