A huge tortoise caused chaos after finding its way onto train tracks.
The injured reptile was found on a railway in Norfolk on Monday (01.08.22) afternoon and slowed down trains travelling along the Breckland line - which runs between Norwich and Cambridge.
Rail operator Greater Anglia confirmed that two trains were terminated early and one was delayed because of the wayward tortoise.
Apologising for the disruption, a spokesperson for the company said in a statement: "This was due to a very large, injured tortoise on the line near Harling Road. Network Rail attended and helped the animal. Services were able to run from 13.25.
"Two trains were terminated early and one service started 20 minutes late. Anyone who has been delayed for more than 15 minutes can claim delay repay."
It is not clear how the tortoise ended up on the tracks but a Network Rail spokesperson confirmed that the animal had been taken to the vets as it appeared to have a crack in the middle of its shell.
