Immersive 4D funerals have debuted.

Traditional funerals can now be immersive experiences

Traditional funerals can now be immersive experiences

Gedling Crematorium, in Nottingham, is believed to be the first place in the world to offer the experience, created by audio-visual bereavement company Obitus.

The set up sees the combination of lighting, soundscapes and projections in the chapel, to give the loved one a send off in a unique fashion.

Current backdrops that surround the coffin, which is projected onto a wall, include a waterfall, snowy scenes and even a football stadium to highlight the club the loved one supported.

Prior to the service, mourners can view a gallery - 25 digital frames that show pictures of the loved one.

Debbie Smith, Chief Executive Officer at Westerleigh Group, told Nottingham World: “We’ve always been committed to making the services we host as uniquely personal as possible, which is also an ambition of our partners at Obitus.

“Now, thanks to their research and development, our shared vision has become a reality, and we’re extremely excited to be able to offer the funerals of the future, today, transforming the way the bereaved say their final farewells."
