Lamarti's are not allowed to enter Ashfield Crescent in Lowestoft after a resident reported that its chimes played for over 20 seconds - with the rules stating that the chimes must only be sounded for 12 seconds.

East Suffolk Council revealed that Lamarti's could continue trading as long as it abides by the code of practice and the driver keeps a written record of when and where a vehicle has sold the cold treats.

Omar Lamarti, the son of the company's owner Mohamed, described the allegations surrounding the chimes as "false".

He said: "Our chimes only go on for seven seconds and automatically stop and drivers are trained not to restart the music after they have stopped until they have moved on to the next street."
