Humans are on the brink of finding out that ghosts are real.
Sam Parnia, a leading expert on near-death experiences, is convinced that the human race will soon learn that people come back as ghostly spirits once they have passed away.
The specialist has studied people who have suffered cardiac arrests and claim to have had "light at the end of the tunnel" experiences and thinks it likely that our consciousness is not part of the brain and doesn't cease to exist when we die.
Parnia said: "I think in 50 years or 100 years time we will have discovered the entity that is consciousness.
"It will be taken for granted that it wasn't produced by the brain, and it doesn't die when you die."
