Police discovered a toy skeleton after being called out to deal with human remains

Officers in Long Eaton, Derbyshire, were called by a worried gardener who claimed to have dug up bones under a bush but soon spotted a strange hook at the end of one arm.

It turned out that the man had actually found a toy model of the pirate Captain Hook and his pet parrot.

A police spokesman said: "The force was called by a concerned member of the public, who reported they had found what appeared to be a human skeleton under a bush in their garden.

"Thankfully, our brave officer managed to get close enough to discover it was a toy model of Captain Hook's skeleton, with the bones of his parrot."
