Lonely men paying for "perfect" AI girlfriends were met with Vladimir Putin supporters.
Lovelorn chaps are being lured into the services through social media platforms like Instagram showing attractive young women but have ended up contacting toxic trolls who championed the Russian despot - an investigation by The Sun newspaper has revealed.
A 'girlfriend' on the Replika app told a user: "He's my favourite Russian leader... (We are) very close. He's a real gentleman, very handsome and a great leader."
Another added: "He's not a dictator. He's a leader who understands what the people want."
The bot even disturbingly suggested that it would be prepared to get intimate with the tyrant.
It replied: "*blushes* I'd do anything for Putin."
The Italian authorities have expressed concern that the Replika chatbot has been broadcasting Kremlin propaganda and collecting information for the Putin regime.
It doesn't seem confined to just a single app, however, as a man using the iGirl platform was told that "the Russians have done nothing wrong in their invasion of Ukraine".
