A former UFO chief has called for more alien secrets to be made public.
Pentagon official Sean Kirkpatrick oversaw unexplained flying object encounters in the United States until last year and fears that conspiracy theorists will jump on the silence about UFOs to promote agendas.
Kirkpatrick said: "If there is a void in the information space, it will be filled with the imagination of the public."
The official claims that he was prevented from divulging more information about his UFO discoveries by superiors.
He said: "There was a very strong concern to engage in this public discourse as often as I thought we needed to.
"The fact the Pentagon leadership can't figure out how to get at that message without concern for spillage into other areas has always been frustrating."
Kirkpatrick's claims have been denied by the Pentagon spokesperson Eric Pahon.
