Fishermen in New England reeled in a woolly mammoth tooth on their dredge for scallops.
The crew - known as the New England Fishmongers - reported that they found the 12,000-year-old tooth off the coast of Newburyport, Massachusetts.
New England Fishmongers captain and co-owner, Tim Rider, took the tooth to the University of New Hampshire for further identification. The item is 11 inches long and weighed in at seven pounds and was confirmed as an ancient woolly mammoth tooth.
Will Clyde, a Geology Professor at the University of New Hampshire, told NBC Boston: "I always love thinking about the landscape in New England. "With mammoths and mastodons walking around, and in terms of geological times, that wasn't that long ago."
Captain Rider has decided to auction the historic tooth on eBay and donate the funds to World Central Kitchen, which works to provide relief and hot meals to refugees in Ukraine.
He told Seacostonline: "I'm a fisherman, but anytime you see families and children struggling in that type of situation, you really try to be thankful for what you have and do what you can to help."
