Exercising twice a week can help you sleep better.
Research suggests that people who exercise on a regular basis are 42 per cent less likely to have trouble drifting off than those who are inactive and are also 22 per cent less likely to report symptoms of insomnia.
The findings - from experts at Imperial College London and Iceland's Reykjavik University - also found that those who continued exercising in the long term were far more likely to sleep normally and get between six and nine hours of rest each night.
Huw Edwards, chief executive of the trade body ukactive, said: "Physical activity has a huge role to play in our physical and mental health, with benefits such as better sleep, reduced stress and anxiety, and improved productivity, social connection and wellbeing."
